Hi Guys,

First things first:

PIAF: 2.0.6.3
FreePBX: 2.10.1.16
Asterisk: 1.8.20.1
CentOS: 6.3 (final) Kernel: 2.6.32-1.2.0.1.e16.i686 - 32 Bit

A strange thing happened to me, because of a mistake i did. What i did was to update CentOS the normal way you would update it, which I think was a big mistake.

After the update the kernel takes 78% of the /boot partition but that is not the problem.

The problem is Asterisk stopped reloading itself and I stopped receiving the nightly fail2ban emails telling me the server has rebooted. Also fail2ban stopped working properly, meaning its status says "ONLINE" and it is there, but it just isn't banning IPs no more. If i manually "amportal restart" , then fail2ban starts working (banning IPs) for a day or two and then stops to do that.

I ran "update programs" then "update fixes" hoping that this will resolve the issue but it didn't.

If anyone knows why or have a suggestion please let me know as I have searched for days and couldn't find an answer.

I would like to let you know that i am more of a GUI user than a Console one.

Thank you,

Lex

Do you guys think "update sources" will help?

I don't. I suspect you've borked it. I would start again - not worth the hassle trying to figure out what's causing the problem.

It's not really that hard. Can you do a bulk export for your DID's and extensions? That's a lot of the work, then use the import tool in Freepbx to put them into a new server you setup. How complex is your setup?

Should i import the extensions last, after doing all other settings like trunks, IVRs, inbound routes etc.?

I have around 25 extensions, 4 trunks, 2 IVRs, 25 IP rules in iptables, Day Groups, 2 queues and 2 ring groups, 1 year of call recordings. So yeah, that's why I was hoping for a different solution than re-installing the server.

No, you need the extensions first, because otherwise the IVR's won't terminate in the right place.
You can download your IVR recordings using winscp - they are in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/custom - then reupload them using freepbx on the new system, so that saves some hassle.
You can probably do your extension voicemails as well using winscp they are in /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default - create all the mailboxes first. Your recordings should be in that /var/spool/asterisk folder somewhere too.

You can cut and paste the rest except the day groups and IVR, so probably I think maybe two or three hours of your time. It's really not that bad - at least no data will be lost.

Unfortunately "don't touch it if it's not broken" is a rule that's often learned the hard way (myself included).

Yeah, this is how I learn too - the hard way.

Thanks for your help mate. Will re-install it tomorrow.

Cheers
